OMP successfully conducted an orientation program in Hambantota District on 12th December 2024. Number of 60 senior state officials were participated for the program. The event was organized by the Legal policy and research unit of the OMP with the focus on the better implementation of Mandate of the Office on Missing Persons. Awareness program was inaugurated with a welcome address, and followed to the presentations and discussions led by divisions of the OMP.

The Office on Missing Persons (OMP) regional offices in Matara, Kilinochchi, Batticaloa, Jaffna, and Mannar commemorated the International Day of the Disappearances today by lighting oil lamps as a symbol of "the light of hope." The event was attended by OMP regional coordinators, staff, and the families of missing persons.

On 27th August 2024, the Office on Missing Persons Sri Lanka commemorated the International Day of the Disappearances 2024. The event was graced by Hon. Minister of Justice M.U.M. Ali Sabry PC, Hon.Attorney General, Diplomats, UN, ICRC, and attended by families of the missing persons, and key stakeholders. This event aimed to build trust in OMP's mechanisms and support the families of missing persons. The ceremony included lighting the "Light of Hope" candle and a two-minute silence to honor the missing. This day serves as a reminder of our duty to pursue justice, transparency, and the right to know the fate of the disappeared.

Office on Missing Persons successfully conducted a meeting on 22 August 2024 with civil society organizations in the Batticaloa District to have a Wider dialogue about the families of missing persons and to find out how best they could engage in the OMP mechanism, finding the fate of the missing persons and how the OMP programs support the families to fulfill their aspirations, finally how they could support the reconciliation process of Sri Lanka.
